Go Indigo is a low cost airline in India, which started its operation on 4 August 2006 with a service from New Delhi to Imphal (via Guwahati). Founded by Rakesh Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia, within one year of establishment, the airline has established themselves as a low cost no frill airlines. The Airline is currently following the model of efficient, low-cost operations and trying to attract passengers by offering them low fares. Since its establishment, IndiGo Airlines has own several airline and travel industry awards. The Airline has also own the Skytrax Central Asia's best low-cost airline award in 2011.
IndiGo Fleet Information
Unlike other Airlines that use various types of fleet for operating in different destinations, IndiGo Airways uses only one type of fleet to operate its service across its destinations. For its operation across 5 international destinations and 26 domestic destinations, IndiGo uses the 180-seater Airbus A320-200 flights. As of November 2011, IndiGo has a total of 46 Airbus A320-200 aircrafts. IndiGo placed an order for 100 Airbus A320 family aircraft during the 2005 Paris Air Show. Among those, 14 have been delivered to IndiGo Air on 2011 and another 8 will be delivered on 2012. On January 11, 2011, IndiGo signed a MOU with Airbus for an additional 180 Airbus A320 neo aircrafts.
Destinations Covered by Go IndiGo
Currently IndiGo Airways operates its flights to 31 destinations in India and abroad with 272 flights each day. Among these 31 destinations, 5 are international destinations and rest 26 are within India. 5 International destinations covered by IndiGo Air are like Bangkok, Dubai, Kathmandu, Singapore and Muscat. Some hot domestic destinations covered by IndiGo Air are like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Srinagar, etc.
IndiGo Baggage Allowance
Go Indigo passengers can carry only one piece of cabin baggage with them. As par, the guideline of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (“BCAS”), weight of the baggage should not exceed 7.0 kg and not exceeding length 55cm + width 35cm + height 25cm in size.
In domestic route, each passenger (any Customer above 2 yrs of age) of IndiGo Airlines can carry free Checked Baggage up to 20 kgs with them. On the other hand, they can carry up to 30 kgs of checked in baggage, when they are flying to/from Dubai and Muscat.

IndiGo Check-in
When you are going to board IndiGo Air for travelling within India, you are requested to arrive at the airport check-in counter at least 45 minutes before the schedule departure. IndiGo’s check in counter opens 2 hours prior to the schedule departure of any flight and closes 45 minutes before the schedule departure. Further, customers with hand baggage only can avail the facility of online check-in from 48 hours until 2 hours prior to scheduled departure.
For those Go Indigo flights, which are originating and terminating out side India, customer check-in at the airport starts 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure and closes 60 minutes before the departure. You can also avail the facility of online check-in, which starts 48 hours before and closes 4 hours prior to scheduled departure.
